One Year Anniversary

It has been one year today since I started this blog because I keenly felt the temporary absence of Gimundo.com, my original source for reading good news regularly.  I am reposting their list of positive websites for you to use as sources for good news to balance out all the other stuff you get elsewhere.  The existing articles will remain online for about two weeks, so if there are any you wish to save or print out, I recommend you pull them off the site quickly as I will be closing up shop and using my blogging time and funds to work on my other blogs:

http://slicesofmylife.net
http://ultravioletlove.com

I plan to devote more time to my other writing, including the above sites, but I carry away from this blog the experience and discipline of blogging pretty much daily and focusing on the positive side of news.  Thank you for your readership.  Namaste!  Have a good news day!

Haiti Children Rescued from Destroyed Orphanage

Most of the children in the Bresma Orphanage already had adoptive parents waiting for them when the earthquake hit.  Not all of the orphans have been accounted for, but the survivors and the two sisters who were caring for them have now been flown to safekeeping in Pittsburgh.

100 Things Getting Better

Thanks to Oprah magazine for pointing out 100 things that are getting better.  Now you see, good news is on the increase.  It doesn't mean there weren't 100 things last year, but it seems that more people are focusing on good news.

Good News Everywhere You Turn

Gimundo.com has provided us with a list of 25 upbeat websites to continue feeding ourselves good news every day.  If you haven't signed up yet for Gimundo.com's e-newsletter, you owe to yourself to do so.  This website is what inspired me to start my all good news blog.  When gimundo.com had to close up shop for a while, it left a gaping hole, so I started this site to help fill the gap.  Thursday is our one-year anniversary for starting this blog.  I am planning to close this blog that day, although I will continue posting good news items on Facebook.  Thank you for your readership this past year.  I've enjoyed being part of your lives.

People Helping People in a Time of Dire Need

Every tragedy has the potential for revealing great humanity.  The stories of people, who just happened to be in Haiti during the earthquake, are starting to surface.  People who were in a hotel that wasn't damaged suddenly turned into compassionate assistances to those who were administering medical aid to the wounded.

It's Easy to Make a Difference in the World

Ever wonder what you can do to help people in other places?  It's easier than you think.  The link below takes you to an article about a textile business that is making it possible to lessen human trafficking by giving women opportunities for economic stability.  Consider helping them to help themselves.
