Winter Wonderland in England

While I sit here in the Seattle area, marveling at the extremely moderate January weather we are having, my friends in the United Kingdom are being treated to a huge blast of winter.  Some are not enjoying the treatment very much, but others, like Catherine Moore and her daughter, are getting quite a kick out of it.  I encouraged Catherine to share some of her winter photos with us, and she most graciously has done that.  So today, I share with my readers the wonders of winter in Norwich, Norfolk.  A huge thank to Catherine for being so generous in allowing me access to such a large collection.  I will probably have to break this up into several blogs in order to let you enjoy the beauty of winter for a while with our friends in England.

I love the photo of this playhouse in the midst of a garden.  I feel as though I could stroll up to the door and knock on it, and find a gnome or a hobbit peering through the windows to see who has come for a visit.  What a magical setting for a child's playhouse.

You can almost see goose bumps coming up on this chilly apple.  It is probably happy for the stocking cap of snow to keep in the warmth.

Gone are the days of basking in the sun in this garden chair.  Those days will return, but for now there is snow, snow, and more snow.

This swing set got an extreme winter makeover from several inches of the white powdery stuff.

As far as eye can see, there is snow.  Snow on the footpaths, snow in the fields, snow in the treetops, and snow under heels.

Our friend, Jasper, is knee deep in snow.  He's wondering where all this stuff came from and what has happened to the grass in his yard.

The snow is coming down hard in this view from an upper-story window.  The line of trees at the far end of the field in the distance is nearly obliterated from sight.

The rosy sky paints an excellent water-colour sunset as a backdrop for the snowy field.

The posties have to keep making the rounds even with the roads and post boxes piled high with snow.

Mother nature shows off her handiwork on this windscreen.  It looks as though angels have been lying on this car making ice angels.

Another stunning example of angels playing in the ice on the windscreen.

Finally we leave you with the handiwork of an earth angel's art in the snow.
