Gay Pride in Seattle Today

The Gay Pride Parade is happening in Seattle today. This is the 35th annual gay pride parade for Seattle, but we are celebrating the 40th anniversary since the Stonewall Riots in June 1969 in Greenwich Village in New York City. For more information on the background history of the Stonewall Riots, which is considered the official trigger of the modern gay rights movement, though of course much was happening in this arena long before Stonewall. Stonewall was a watershed moment, but truthfully not the beginning of the movement by any stretch.
