Marbled Murrelet Gets a Break (Again)

In 1992, the marbled murrelet, whose habitat includes California, Oregon, and Washington, was placed on the Endangered Species List. In 2004, under the Bush administration, this listing was disputed, based on the claim that it was no different from the species found in Canada. A new review has indicated that this species continues in decline and that it is different from its Canadian neighbor, so it has been determined that it still requires protection.
