While they've still got a long way to go before they get off the endangered species list, the blue whales are starting to return to northern waters along their former migratory route. The blue whales were nearly wiped out by commercial fishing in the early part of the twentieth century. I think this return to former migratory patterns is a good sign. Hopefully now they can continue recovery efforts.
